Consulting is often the best way to get the needed skills for a problem. Todays competitive labor environment often makes it difficult or impossible to get necessary key skills in a conventional employee, especially in the IT industry. Employers developing internally are often forced to compromise, or attempt to adopt a long-term and costly training approach.
Contractors are not part of your administrative hierarchy and do not seek advancement within your organization. They focus completely on your project objectives. To them, bringing the project to full completion, on cost and schedule, is the basis of the relationship.
Contract services are not burdened with vacation, 401K, social security tax, unemployment insurance, medical/dental/vision insurance, sick days, holidays, disability, stock options, etc. Studies have shown that contract labor costs less on an hourly basis than in-house employees. A prominent business journal recently estimated the average burdened labor cost of senior IS staff to be $76/hour and equivalent contract services to be only $72/hour. Elite Services is willing to beat these averages when the business is local.
In todays IT environment, predatory hiring practices make conventional employees less reliable than a contract professional dedicated to achieving an agreed to objective. Traditionally, employers provided generous benefits, and employees returned loyalty and long-term commitment. Todays fierce competition for scarce IT staff has left employers with the entire obligation and none of the traditional benefits. For example, a large telecommunications firm in Denver recently announced that it has given up hiring database administrators since, once hired and trained, they immediately leave the company. They have determined that its cheaper and more efficient to contract for these services.
There is no lifetime employment commitment with a contractor. When the work is done, or business circumstances change, the company can choose to scale back staff with no bad feelings, broken commitments, or cost. Companies can expand and contract staff without the encumbrances of conventional employee commitments. This flexibility allows the company to assume less risk in selecting staff.
The charges are simple and by the hour. Theres easy monthly billing, with no administrative overhead. You only pay for what you get.
Lower cost and increased flexibility further reduces the total effective cost to your business. You pay less and get more for your dollar.
